Elizabeth “Liz” Jane John October 23, 1946-October 25, 2019
Liz John
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of this great woman. Liz passed away on October 25 in her home surrounded by her family after a six year battle with cancer. She was born October 23, 1946 to Clark and Eva John in Toledo Oregon.
Being raised between Newport and Siletz throughout her life, Liz chose Siletz as her residence at the time of her passing. Liz worked in the Fish Processing industry for 25 years on the Newport Bayfront and had been retired for the last 20 years. She loved her family like no other, for they were the solid foundation of her life. Liz cherished spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
You would often find Liz spending her days beading, gardening, and going to elders activities. She proudly showcased her culture and participated in all things that kept her traditions alive as a Siletz tribal member. Liz had two very dear cousin/sisters, Kristi Martin-Bayya and Bonnie Petersen. Each one had a unique bond with Liz from weekend getaways to date nights; the three had many adventures throughout Liz's life.
Liz is survived by her brothers David and Ron John; sister Josephine John; her two daughters Anna and Delina (Shane); 4 grandchildren, Darian, Daniel (Alondra), Zoey, and Zaiden; 2 great-grandchildren Amelia, and Rayne, along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Clark and Eva, her brothers Jr., Johnnie, LeRoy, Lyndsey, and her sister Gylene.
Please join us in celebrating our momma’s life Saturday, November 2nd at 2:30 pm at the Siletz Tribal Community Center with a Pot Luck to follow.
