Exhibit features watercolor class

The Yaquina Art Association is featuring an exhibit of artwork from the YAA Watercolor Class through May 10.

The Yaquina Art Association Gallery is located in Newport’s Nye Beach at 789 NW Beach Drive. Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day.

The YAA Watercolor Class takes place every Monday, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., in a learning space located in the Newport First Baptist Church classroom behind the church at 208 NW Sixth St. (next door to Bike Newport). All Yaquina Art Association classes are free, and the watercolor class welcomes all levels of experience.

Do you want to try something new? Are you a painter who would like to learn new techniques? Do you want to be a part of a supportive art group? The class welcomes anyone to participate.

Other free classes offered include:

  • Oil and Acrylic Painting on Tuesdays, from 9 a.m. to noon;
  • Pastel Class on Tuesdays, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.;
  • Colored Pencil & Drawing Class on Wednesdays, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.;
  • Beading and Jewelry Class every second and fourth Wednesday of the month, from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Also, the YAA Photography Club meets at the Newport Library (lower floor classroom) every first and third Monday of the month at 7 p.m.
