UPDATE: The Oregon Department of Human Services said in a press release March 31 that Alyssa Elizabeth Garner Cobe, age 7, missing from Newport with her mother since March 26, has been found.
In the press release, Oregon DHS included the following statement: "A small number of children in foster care may be in significant danger when they run away or have gone missing. As DHS works to do everything it can to find these missing children and ensure their safety, media alerts will be issued in some circumstances when it is determined necessary. Sometimes, in these situations, a child may go missing repeatedly, resulting in more than one media alert for the same child."
The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking the public's help locating a 7-year-old girl who went missing from Newport Friday.
According to a press release from Oregon DHS, Alyssa Elizabeth Garner Cobe went missing with her mother Julie Garner from Newport on March 26. The department believes the 7-year-old may be at risk and is searching for her to assess her safety.
Garner is believed to be traveling to Vallejo, Calif. in a silver 2008 Honda Civic with Oregon license plate 942FEF.
Alyssa is described as being 3 foot 10 inches tall, 63 pounds with hazel eyes and strawberry blonde hair.
